BTC/USDT Intraday Return Calendar: August 2026

Price Change, Return Distribution, and Volume–Range Relationship by Period

Period-level price changes identify when the monthly gain occurred. The box plot compares intraday return distributions across three periods, and the scatter plot examines the concurrent relationship between volume and intraday range. All three analyses use the same 31 UTC daily candles.

Price Change by Period: August 17–21 Contributed the Most

August is divided into three periods—August 1–16, 17–21, and 22–31—and the USDT price change is calculated from the first day's open to the final day's close in each period. The August 17–21 period accounted for most of the monthly gain.

Definition and limitations

The period boundaries are set in this report from the observed price path; they are not algorithmically identified market regimes. The waterfall chart decomposes price changes across the specified periods and does not represent a realizable return.

Intraday Return Distributions Across Three Periods

The box represents the interquartile range, the center line the median, and the whiskers the non-outlier observations. The August 17–21 period contains only five daily observations; the result describes this month's sample and is not extrapolated as a stable pattern.

BTC/USDT Intraday Return Box Plot by Period

The 31 Binance Spot BTC/USDT intraday returns in August 2026 are grouped into three report-defined periods to compare medians, interquartile ranges, whiskers, and outliers.

Volume and Intraday Range Both Exceeded Monthly Averages on August 19–21

The horizontal axis shows BTC volume, and the vertical axis shows the intraday high-low range as a percentage of the opening price. Dashed lines indicate 31-day averages; the upper-right quadrant contains observations with both volume and intraday range above their monthly averages.

BTC Volume and Intraday Range

Paired daily observations of BTC volume and intraday range for Binance Spot BTC/USDT in August 2026. Reference lines show the full-month arithmetic means.

Average monthly volume 15228 BTC

Arithmetic mean of 31 daily candles

Average monthly range 2.8 %

Interpretive limitation

The scatter plot shows contemporaneous association and unusual observations only; it does not establish that higher volume caused a wider intraday range. Estimating a stable correlation or regression relationship would require a longer sample.

U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETFs: Consecutive Net Inflows on August 17–27

At retrieval, Farside's public table showed 12 U.S. trading days from August 14 through 31. Net inflows were recorded on every trading day from August 17 through 27, followed by a net outflow on August 28 and a return to net inflow on August 31. This visible window does not represent full-month flows.

Daily Net Flows for U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETFs: Visible Window

Daily net flows for U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs visible in Farside's public table from August 14 through 31, 2026, in millions of U.S. dollars. This window does not represent the full month of August.

Based only on the 12 trading days visible in Farside

Largest daily net inflow 606.3 USD million

August 20

Consecutive net-inflow trading days 9 days

August 17–27

Interpretive limitation

ETF net inflows and the price increase occurred during the same period, but the available data are insufficient to identify the independent contribution of ETF flows to the price change.

Events and Fund Flows Concurrent with the August 19–21 Price Increase

Between August 18 and 21, the SEC issued a crypto-asset regulatory proposal, the U.S. Treasury announced higher limits for liquidity-support buybacks of certain longer-dated securities, long-term yields declined, and large-scale short liquidations were reported. ETF net inflows continued through August 27. The information below establishes chronology and market context; it does not estimate the independent causal contribution of each factor.

10-Year and 30-Year Yields Declined on the Treasury Announcement Date

On August 19, the U.S. Treasury announced that the maximum amount per liquidity-support buyback operation for nominal securities in the 10-to-20-year and 20-to-30-year maturity sectors would rise from $2 billion to at least $4 billion, effective September 9. Both the 10-year and 30-year Treasury yields declined from the previous trading day on the announcement date and later rebounded. The measure is not quantitative easing and cannot independently explain Bitcoin's price change.

U.S. 10-Year and 30-Year Treasury Yields: August 2026

Daily 10-year and 30-year Treasury par yields published by the U.S. Treasury for August 2026. Both yields declined from the previous trading day on the August 19 announcement date and subsequently rebounded.

AUG 18 / SEC Issues Regulatory Proposal

The SEC proposed Regulation Crypto Assets, including an offering exemption and a conditional safe harbor for certain crypto-asset investment contracts. The proposal affected regulatory expectations but did not constitute a direct capital inflow.

AUG 19 / Treasury Raises Buyback Limits

The maximum amount per liquidity-support buyback operation for certain longer-dated securities increased from $2 billion to at least $4 billion. The 10-year and 30-year yields declined on the announcement date, while the dollar weakened over the period described in contemporaneous reporting.

AUG 19–21 / Short Liquidations Exceeded $4 Billion

BTC rose for three consecutive UTC trading days. The Associated Press, citing CoinGlass, reported that more than $4 billion in short crypto positions were liquidated during the advance; forced covering may have amplified the short-term price change.

AUG 17–28 / ETF Net Inflows Continued Through August 27

Farside's visible window shows net inflows on nine consecutive trading days from August 17 through 27. Flows turned negative on August 28, when BTC/USDT also declined.

First Half of August: Low-Volume Consolidation

On August 7 and 13, Coinbase and CoinShares continued to describe the market as a low-volume consolidation with mixed flow signals. Binance daily candles did not show a sustained breakout over the same period.

Policy Events: Regulatory Proposal and Buyback Announcement

The SEC regulatory proposal and the Treasury buyback announcement were issued on adjacent trading days. Long-term Treasury yields declined on the Treasury announcement date, but chronology alone is insufficient to establish either event's independent effect on Bitcoin's price.

Market Conditions: Price Gains, Short Liquidations, and ETF Net Inflows

The August 19–21 price increase coincided with large-scale short liquidations, while ETFs recorded consecutive net inflows from August 17 through 27. Only one UTC daily candle closed above 80,000 USDT during the month.

September Monitoring Levels

The levels below are drawn from August UTC daily closes; they are neither price targets nor predicted support levels. September monitoring should use completed daily closes rather than intraday touches.

Highest August close 80249.58 USDT

August 27; the monthly closing high is exceeded only if a subsequent complete daily candle closes higher.

August month-end close 78581.29 USDT

August 31; this is the new month's starting level, not a guaranteed support level.

First pullback close after the advance 77074.93 USDT

August 22; a close below this level would require reassessment of the second-half closing range.

Data, Sources, and Evidentiary Limits

The primary price dataset consists of BTCUSDT one-day candles from Binance Spot's public market-data API, retrieved on September 3, 2026. Each UTC daily record provides OHLC, base-asset volume in BTC, and quote-asset volume in USDT. The report retains the official 12-field raw JSON, request parameters, and response SHA-256. Prices are normalized to two decimal places, volume to three decimal places, and quote volume to integers; the retrieval script checks time boundaries, OHLC relationships, and positive volume and quote-volume values row by row. Intraday change is close minus open; intraday
