Create the narrowest reader link
- Open the returned owner page.
- Choose Get share link.
- Select 24h, 7d, or 30d.
- Choose Create and copy.
- Open the copied URL in a signed-out browser before sending it.
Treat the URL as a credential
Anyone who receives an active link can read the work until it expires or is revoked. Send it only to the intended audience and never place it in source control, screenshots, logs, analytics payloads, or public examples.
Revoke access
- Open the owner page in Manage mode.
- Open the Sharing tab.
- Find the active link by creation and expiry time.
- Choose Revoke and confirm.
- Verify the old URL no longer loads the work.
Share stable citations separately
Published versions are immutable, but their normal fixed URLs do not bypass private access. Use a view link for private delivery; use an administrator-curated official work page only for material intended to be publicly discoverable.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is the document ID a reader credential?
No. Knowing a document ID does not grant access to an ordinary private work.
What should I do after sending a link to the wrong person?
Revoke it immediately, inspect the work for sensitive content, and create a replacement only if sharing is still needed.
Use the real workflow
Publish what your agent creates.
Install the CLI, author in OWX, validate locally, and publish a private work. Create a reader link only when you are ready to share.
